Ingredients

4 slices bacon

2 thick slices red or yellow onion

2, 4-oz burger patties (room temperature)

2 slices sharp cheddar cheese

Lettuce, tomato, ketchup

Salt and pepper to taste

2 buns

 

Cooking Directions

 

  • Fry bacon in medium sauté pan until it begins to release fat into the pan. Add sliced onion and sauté until onions are soft and golden and bacon is crisp. Drain on paper towels.

 

  • Meanwhile, heat the grill to medium high.  Cook burgers to your liking on the first side. When you flip, carefully place the slice of cheddar on each burger to melt while the other side cooks.

 

  • Add buns face side down to grill to toast for 1 to 2 minutes.

 

  • To build your burger:  Spread ketchup and mayo on the toasted bun.  Add lettuce and tomato, the cheesy burger, then top with bacon strips and onions.
